After 28 days, 577 rides completed , 8,047kms traveled, and 222kg of CO2 saved by cycling, we completed the 2023 Aotearoa Bike Challenge for the forth consecutive year.
In 2019, we were looking to adopt a range of initiatives that would support and encourage all Classic employees to dedicate some time to nurturing their wellbeing.
“Being Active” is just one of NZ Mental health Foundation’s ‘Five ways to wellbeing’, but it is an important one, proven to boost our wellbeing and decrease stress, depression, and anxiety.
Alongside all the proven benefits,
⏰ Speedier commutes to and from work
💪🏽 Feeling fitter and healthier
😄 More productive work days
💲 Saving money
😌 Increased endorphins and lower stress
🌏 Reduced carbon emissions
we jumped on board Love to Ride’s ‘Aotearoa bike challenge’ because it has the online tools (a great website and interactive app) available to make this work for a company that is geographically spread.
And despite the unfortunate weather that was experienced in many parts of the country last month, people continued to clock up the kms and we achieved our goal of completing more than 500 rides for the month.
Some rode solo while others teamed up and organised rides after work, or went on weekend adventures with their family.
